How a round works

Teen Patti is played with a standard 52-card deck. At the start of each round the dealer gives every player three cards face down. Players then bet in turns. On each turn a player can either stay in or Fold and leave the round.

Players can hold their cards in two ways — Seen (Chaal) or Blind. A player who bets without looking at their cards is called a Blind player and only needs to put in half the bet of others. A player who looks at their cards before betting is called a Seen player.

At the end of a round the remaining players reveal their cards in a Showdown, or the last two players can ask each other for a Show. The player with the strongest hand wins the entire pot.

Hand rankings — which cards are strongest

Hand strength in Teen Patti is determined by specific card combinations. The list below is ordered from highest to lowest — the higher up, the stronger the hand.

Rank Hand Name Description
1 Trail / Trio Three cards of the same rank. A-A-A is the highest, 2-2-2 is the lowest.
2 Pure Sequence / Straight Flush Three consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g. ♠A-♠K-♠Q).
3 Sequence / Straight Three consecutive cards of any suit (e.g. A-K-Q).
4 Flush / Color Three cards of the same suit, not necessarily consecutive. Compared by the highest card.
5 Pair Two cards of the same rank. A-A-K is the highest Pair.
6 High Card If none of the above combinations are formed, hands are compared by the highest card.

Note: A-2-3 is counted as a special highest Sequence — in some rules it ranks above A-K-Q.

Against the dealer or against other players?

Traditional Teen Patti is played among multiple players — everyone bets into a shared pot each round, and the player with the strongest hand still in at the end wins the pot. The dealer only distributes the cards and is not a competitor.

However, on online platforms some Casino-style variants of Teen Patti are also available, where a player competes directly against the dealer's hand. In these games, if the dealer's hand does not meet a set threshold (such as Queen High), the bet may be returned automatically.

In t777 game's t777 game Casino section you will find both formats — multiplayer Teen Patti tables and a dealer-versus-player format — so you can choose whichever you prefer.

Useful tips for new players

  • Start as Blind: For the first few rounds, bet without looking at your cards (Blind) — this lets you get a feel for the game's pace at lower cost and gives you a chance to observe how other players behave.
  • Start with small bets: Do not risk a large pot while you are still learning. Practise reading hand values with small bets and build confidence gradually.
  • Use Sideshow wisely: As a Seen player you can request a Sideshow or Compromise from the Seen player next to you. If your hand is weak, this move can save you money.
  • Do not hesitate to Fold: Raising your bet with a weak hand just to pressure others usually leads to greater losses over time. Knowing when to step out is an important skill.
  • Set a budget: Before each session decide the maximum amount you are willing to spend. When you reach that limit, end the session. Visit t777 game's Responsible Gaming page for a detailed guide on this.
  • Read other players' tells: At a live table, players often give away signals without realising — a quick Fold, a sudden large bet, or a long pause. These behaviours can give you a sense of an opponent's hand.
  • Keep track of the pot size: Consider the ratio of your bet to the current pot. When the pot is large, staying in briefly with a weaker hand can sometimes be reasonable.
  • Use free practice mode: Many platforms offer a Demo or Practice mode. Play a few rounds there before betting real money.
  • Do not make decisions based on emotion: After losing a round, trying to recover losses immediately with a large bet typically leads to even greater losses.

Popular variants of Teen Patti

Alongside the main game, several variants have developed that offer different types of play and strategy.

Classic

Classic Teen Patti

The most familiar format. No Wild cards, no extra rules — just three cards and the skill of betting. This is the most widely played variant in Bangladesh.

Joker

Joker Teen Patti

The dealer declares one or two Wild cards (Jokers). A Wild card can act as any card, which increases the chance of forming a Trail or Pure Sequence.

Muflis

Muflis (Reversed Rankings)

All rules stay the same, but hand rankings are reversed — the weakest hand becomes the strongest. Particularly popular among experienced players.

AK47

AK47

Ace (A), King (K), Four (4), and Seven (7) — these four ranks are Wild cards. This creates many more opportunities to form a Trail and makes each round less predictable.

999

999 Variant

The values of the three cards in a hand are added together and the unit digit of the total is used — the closer it is to 9, the stronger the hand. Simple but strategic.

TeenPatti 20-20

Teen Patti 20-20

Each player receives two separate hands — A and B. They choose one of the two to play against the dealer's hand. JILI's Teen Patti 20-20 online is built on this format.

Table etiquette and session management

Teen Patti is a social game — good conduct keeps the experience enjoyable for other players and for yourself.

01
Make decisions in time

Taking too long annoys other players. Think as soon as you see your cards and keep up with the pace of the table.

02
Keep your hand to yourself

During play, do not hint at your cards or your plan — it can give others an unfair advantage.

03
Accept wins and losses calmly

Excessive celebration when winning or blaming others when losing both spoil the atmosphere at the table.

04
Set a time limit and a budget for your session

Decide before you start how long you will play and how much you will spend. When you reach the limit, take a break — there will be another opportunity tomorrow.

05
Do not chase losses with large bets

Trying to recover all losses from a bad session in a single bet almost always leads to even larger losses. Plan your next session with a clear head.

Common questions about Teen Patti

The highest hand in Teen Patti is a Trail or Trio — three cards of the same rank. Three Aces (A-A-A) is the highest Trail and three Twos (2-2-2) is the lowest. After Trail comes Pure Sequence, then Sequence, Flush, Pair, and finally High Card.

A Blind player bets without looking at their cards and only needs to put in half the stake of a Seen player. A Seen player looks at their cards before deciding and must bet at a higher minimum. A player can switch from Blind to Seen at any time, but cannot switch back from Seen to Blind.

When both players are Seen, one can request a Sideshow or Compromise from the player next to them. If accepted, both players compare their cards privately — the one with the weaker hand must Fold. If the request is declined, the game continues as normal.

Classic Teen Patti is the best starting point for beginners. There are no Wild cards or special rules, so learning the hand rankings and betting is straightforward. Once the basics are solid, you can move on to more complex variants like Joker or AK47.

In Teen Patti 20-20, each player receives two hands at once — Hand A and Hand B. After looking at the cards, they choose one hand to play against the dealer. In regular Teen Patti there is only one hand and all players compete against each other. JILI's Teen Patti 20-20 is built on this format.

When only two players remain, one can challenge the other to a Show. Both players reveal their cards — the one with the higher-ranked hand wins. If both hands are equal, the player who called the Show loses.
